IIT's may soon choose their own fee structure

Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs)   who are regulated by the apex councils may soon be allowed to set their own fee structure without consulting the concerned governing body. As per the sources, the move is to give IIT’s full authority and freedom to maintain their campus as per their wish. IIT panel approves threefold hike in annual fees

A proposal for a threefold hike in annual fees of IITs from the present Rs 90,000 to Rs 3 lakh for undergraduate students was approved by the Standing Committee of IIT Council (SCIC) on March 17, 2016.  At the same time, the under graduate students from IITs will be offered interest-free scholarships under the Vidyalakshmi scheme.
