National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra or NIT Kurukshetra (earlier Regional Engineering College, Kurukshetra) is a public technical university wholly funded by Government of India.In December 2008 it have been accredited with the status of Institution of National Importance(INI). It is one of the twenty National Institutes of Technology established and administered by Government of India.It runs undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy progamme in Engineering, Sciences and Humanities.
The institute aims to educate its students on the values of life besides training them to achieve excellence in the field of academics. Research activities, intensive study and innovative methods of teaching are a part of the grooming process in this institute. The institute also strives to provide a number of quality engineering courses and programs at the undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral levels. In order to inculcate a feeling of national integration, patriotism and brotherhood among the students, candidates are taken from all parts of India irrespective of any social or religious barriers. Campus The campus extends over an area of 300 acres imaginatively laid down on a picturesque landscape. It presents a spectacle of harmony in architecture and natural beauty. The campus has been organised into three functional sectors: Hostels for the students, Instructional buildings and Residential sector for the staff. Hostels for students are located towards Eastern side of the campus in the form of cluster. Three storey buildings of hostels provide comfortable accommodation and pleasing environment to students. The instructional buildings have been located between the two residential sectors in order to reduce walking distance. A full fledged health centre manned by qualified doctors, a Post Office and a branch of the State Bank of India are located at convenient points on the Campus. For organising cultural activities there's an Open Air Theater and an auditorium - Jubilee Hall. Facilities :
