Podar college as it is usually called, is located at Matunga (central) is also walking distance from Dadar station. Founded in 1941, this neo-gothic building with its tower stands out in the adjourning area. It offers undergraduate courses, degree courses (BCom & BMS), post g raduate courses (MCom) and also part time diploma courses by affiliating with the neighboring Welingkar Institute of Management. It has received an A+ NAAC accreditation. Inspite of the “outstanding” students, the long list of Podarites in the merit lists, says it all. Every year there are a bunch of merit holders. It has a variety of extra curricular activities clubs. To name a few, the Group Discussion Cell, Speakers Academy, Hikers Club, etc. They arrange lot of quizzes, group discussions, debates, hikes and many other events. Also the Students Council is an active body of students which organizes a host of events for the ever ready to dance podarites. The “Jam sessions” held in the college auditorium are eagerly awaited by all. Also Podar has been winning the Youth Festival for the last 14 consecutive years. The college canteen run by our beloved Anna is a hit among the students, with Chinese being the main attraction apart from the usual samosa pav, dabeli, bhurji pav. Having a samosa toast or bhaji toast by Subhash the sandwich wala is a must for every “outstanding” student sitting on the katta opposite the college. Also deciding between Mani’s lunch home, DPs, China man is tough. All these located near the adjourning Ruia College are followed by a visit to the juice wala. And all these options without a big hole to your pockets. And how can you forget the best part about Podar – RAPPORT !! It is the week long intra collegiate festival of Podar held a just before the Christmas break. It brings out your hidden talents and also you get to make friends for life during this time..in the true sense of the word “rapport”.
