Sophia (pronounced "Sofia" not "sofeea") College is located right in the middle of the hustle bustle of the 'town area' of Mumbai city. Its main entrance is located at Breach Candy, right next to shopping heaven 'Amarsons'. 'The Sisters of the Sacred Hearts' founded the college in 1940-41. Yes, this means we have a lot of sisters in our staff. But no, that doesn't make us behave 'saintly'. Sophia's is like any other college in Mumbai, except for the fact that the male species are not seen on our campus. Being an all girls institute, we tend to get weird looks and curious glances from people, asking WHY? But hey, it's no big deal! We don't miss out on any fun. In fact, we can be more of ourselves in college. At Sophia's, you won't find a lot of "decked up advertisements for clothes or accessories" walking about. Another reason for this could be the 8 o'clock lectures. College begins really early every morning and we have to be there because the one thing (among a whole lot of other things) that the sisters are strict about is attendance. We have a black list coming out every month and may the LORD be with you, should your name appear on the list more than twice. But after some time, you get used to the early morning regime and then it isn't that bad. Really!
