Syllabus for CA CPT Exam

Chartered Accountants are statutorily recognized audit practitioners and are technically equipped to act as management consultants. They are highly skilled to deliver accounting and audit functions in a computerized environment. Chartered accountancy is a challenging profession that offers practice or job opportunities in the areas of accounting, auditing, project evaluation, corporate finance, company and other business laws.

The candidates who want to appear for CA CPT Exam should have basic knowledge fundamental of accounting, mercantile law, quantitative aptitude and general economics. Topics to be covered in each subject are as follows:

  • Accounting: Bank Reconciliation statement, Theoretical framework, accounting process, Partnership accounts, Introduction to company accounts, Accounting for special transactions, Depreciation accounting, inventories and Preparation of final accounts for sole proprietors.
  • Mercantile Law: The sale of goods act 1930, the Indian contract act, 1872 and the India partnership act 1932.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: Theoretical distribution, sampling theory, Probability and expected value by mathematical expectation, Measures of central tendency and dispersion, Correlation and regression, statistical description of data, limits and continuity- intuitive approach, basic concepts of differential and integral calculus, sets, functions and relations, Basic concepts of permutation and combination, sequence and series – arithmetic and geometric progressions, simple and compound interest including annuity- applications, equations, inequalities, ratio and proportion, logarithm and indices.
  • General economics: Select aspects of Indian economy, economic reforms of India, Indian economy-a profile, theory of production and cost, price determination in different markets, theory of demand and supply, micro economics.
