2.05 lakh register for CAT 2011

CAT 2011 registrations has seen atomic increase compared to last year. About 2.05 lakh students have registered for CAT 2011 to get admissions in prestigious IIMs and other B-schools.
Sources reveal, Prometric an US-based agency which conducts the computerised exam is happy with the registration numbers as it has not reduced when compared to last year. In 2010, 2.04 lakh candidates had registered for CAT while in 2009 the registration number was 2.48 lakh. 
The sale of CAT 2011 vouchers ended on October 1, and about 2.06 lakh vouchers were sold. The CAT 2011 registration window ended on October 4, with approximately 2.05 aspirants registering for CAT.
Experts feel the reason for declining number is the current economic situation.
According to sources, New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Pune are the cities in which highest number of candidates have scheduled to take the online test between October 22 and November 18,2011.
Prometric is now in process of checking all the test locations to ensure candidates take the exam without difficulties.
