Most of the students with arts background tend to believe in the myth that CAT is not their cup of tea. They always feel that CAT is only meant for science graduates. But CAT 2011 Results this year have blown their apprehensions into fumes. Across India, there are a good number of CAT 2011 candidates with arts background who have come up with flying colours and will be receiving calls from different IIMs.

One of the biggest examples for breaking this myth is Saurabh Kumar from Bangalore who has scored 99.4 percentile in CAT 2011. Saurabh completed his BBA from ISBM Kolkata and has been serving an IT company in Bangalore since last 8 months. CAT 2011 was the second attempt for Saurabh and he is expecting a call from all the top IIMs.

Many art students think that CAT is only for engineering graduates but infact it is your aptitude that makes difference. If you have the right aptitude you can easily make to IIMs. The best strategy for arts students is to have command over English language.

Though, the art students are required to put in more efforts as compared to engineering students who mostly score high in CAT exam, the only difference that exists between both is their approach as well as aptitude. Apart from aptitude, arts students should also have right approach while preparing for CAT. Their focus should be on developing techniques to solve a variety of problems.

However, arts background students get an edge over others while appearing in written test and interview process because of their excellent command over English language and inter-personal skills. . Moreover, now quite a few IIMs give out extra marks to non- engineering students.
