The CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) implemented its CCE (Comprehensive and Continuous Evaluation) system 2 years back and is continuously seeking methods to improve it. The board has now asked Class IX teachers to provide their feedback on Formative Assessment manual.

The CCE assessment system comprises of FA (Formative Assessment) and SA (Summative Assessment) which are held throughout the year. The board has sought feedback on 4 subjects – Mathematics, Science, Social Science and English. It wants to understand the difficulties faced by the teachers. The feedback form can be obtained from the official website of CBSE.

In 2011, board had sought feedback of teachers for class X and asserts that got helpful inputs and thus decided to offer the same process for Class IX also. The CCE system implies school based evaluation of students that includes all round development of students. Continuous refers to frequency of unit tests, regular evaluation, applying remedial measures, analysis of learning gaps, retesting and giving feedback to students and teachers for the overall self-evaluation.

Comprehensive aims to include both co-scholastic and scholastic areas of student’s growth and development.
