The Central Board of Secondary education (CBSE) has decided to include ‘value-based questions’ in Class XI and XII board exams from next year. These questions of 3-5 marks will be introduced in 15 subjects.
Sources from CBSE revealed that the Board has decided to integrate values with the content of all major subjects in Classes XI and XII. The Board will also assign additional 5% weightage to major subjects (Hindi, English, biology, mathematics, accountancy, chemistry, geography, history, entrepreneurship, business studies and economics) in Classes XI and XII by asking questions which will be clubbed with the content of subject and evaluated on the basis of values it exhibits.
For 100 marks paper, questions will carry 5 marks while for 70-90 marks paper, it will be of three to four marks.
The notification announcing the implementation of value-based questions, states that the current educational ecosystem should be made stronger to impart values protected in the Indian Constitution.
