CBSE to conduct CTET in November 2012

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the dates for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2012. The CTET 2012 is held to determine the eligibility for appointment of teachers for Classes I to VIII. The CTET is applicable to schools under the Central Government and unaided private schools that practice the option of considering the CTET. Qualifying in this exam does not grant the candidate a recruitment opportunity.

There will be two papers – one for the primary stage (Classes I-V) and another for the elementary stage (Classes VI-VIII). Candidates can choose to appear for only one paper or both.

A candidate applying for the teacher position for Classes I-V is required to hold a diploma/ bachelor degree in Elementary Education after completing their Higher Secondary education. Candidates applying for the teacher’s position for Classes VI-VIII are required to have a diploma/bachelor degree in education after completing their graduation.

The candidates can apply for the CTET only through the online mode on CBSE or CTET official website. The examination fee should be paid through a demand draft. The examination will be an objective type with Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). There will be no negative marking.

Paper –I, for the primary stage will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm, while Paper – II, for the elementary stage will be held on the same day from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.
