CBSE to hold problem solving assessment

CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) will hold the PSA (Problem Solving Assessment) for classes 9 and 11 on February 14, 2013 from 10 am to 11.30 am. As per the decision taken by the board this year, the test will be mandatory for all class 9 and class 11 students for the academic year 2012-13.

Even though there is no particular syllabus for Central Board of Secondary Education- Problem Solving Assessment (CBSE-PSA), it will judge the students in areas such as qualitative reasoning, quantitative reasoning and language conventions. The 90 marks tests will have 60 multiple choice questions (MCQ).

As per the CBSE chairman, the life skills will assess students in the following domains- Qualitative -will assess reasoning in science and mathematics, Quantitative -will assess reasoning in arts, humanities and social sciences and language conventions-will assess reasoning in different features of written communication such as grammar, vocabulary, etc.
