Most of us are having a misconception that ISC syllabus is less competitive than any other board syllabus. Also ICSE students find it difficult to crack competitive exams such as IIT-JEE, AIIMS, CPMT and others. But chief executive officer and secretary of the CISCE (Council of the Indian School Certificate Examination) clarified these misbelieves of students at the 25th Regional Conference of Association of Schools for the Indian School Certificate (ASISC).
He clarified that the Indian School Certificate (ISC) syllabus is at par with the other boards and a common curriculum has been designed for the entire country. Now the Class XII syllabus for all boards is same. The Council is also all set to introduce a new system where online affiliation could be granted to the schools. Also the examination fee would be decreased by over 50% from 2013.
Many have questioned about the belief why CBSE schools are more popular than ICSE schools. To this a school principal said that it is the mindset of people that the CBSE syllabus is easier than ICSE but now all boards have the same syllabus and the difficulty level is also the same. Another principal informed that this is not true and in fact students from ICSE schools have extremely good English.
It is our common belief that CBSE syllabus is competition based and its comprehensive evaluation system encourages more students to opt for CBSE schools. But the fact is till Class X the evaluation system remains same for all boards.
