With the board exams approaching faster, the class X students of GSHSEB Board (Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board) find their counterparts in CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) board in a much relaxed situation. One of the major reasons is over 75% students of CBSE schools in Ahmedabad have chosen schools based examination over CBSE Board exam.

Ahmedabad based, Udgam School, has reported that out of the total 135 Class X students, only 53 students have chosen board exam. In DPS (Delhi Public School), the number is still worst with only 25 out of 264 candidates opting for board exam. In Prakash School the number further declines to 11 out of the total 130 students while Maharaja Agrasen reports just 6 students appearing for board exam this year.

Some teachers expressed that the students planning to change their boards in future only opt for board exam. One of the schools Principal revealed that the introduction of school based examination has given a sense of relief to the students who have opted for it. This year the students of CBSE Board schools are not occupied by the exam blues and appear much relaxed. The school based examination does not impose pressure on students as the answer sheets will be corrected internally while the question papers will be prepared by the CBSE board.

However many schools have expressed their concern over the growing laid back attitude among the students with the introduction of school based examination system. They revealed that students have started taking exams lightly and are distracted from studies.
