With the CMAT exam approaching in February 2012, the aspirants are all set to appear in the first national level Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) for admissions in the management programs approved by AICTE for the year 2012-2013.

In order to make the candidates familiar with the paper pattern of CMAT, AICTE had announced online CMAT trial tests. The first trial was conducted in the 2nd week of December. Though only a few students appeared in the first test, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is all set to conduct the second trial test this week.

Sources from AICTE reveal that these trial tests are essentially pilot tests to reduce the glitches in the final CMAT exam. The technical and other issues of the first CMAT trial test have been looked into. The second trial test will be taken by fresh slot of students so that a complete analysis can be drawn.

The mechanism for CMAT is expected to remain same as CAT. However, security mechanisms such as biometrics may be used at the exam centers.

The AICTE website states that the scores will be given to all the students who take CMAT exam and an all India as well as state level merit list will be prepared for admission to MBA and PGDM programs in AICTE approved institutes.

Even after stating the aforementioned statement, AICTE has still not revealed the names of the colleges that would accept CMAT score. However,  KJ Somaiya Institute of Management and Research (SIMSR) has declared that the institute will be accepting CMAT scores for admission to PGDM programs in financial services, executive management and retail management this year.
