So You only have 10 more days to go.
-
First thing students need to realize is that
There is No Time left to start new topics which you
had completely or even partially ignored in your class XI
and XII (and believe me, I know most students would have
deliberately left a few topics as you thought them to be either
boring or not that necessary). Fear Not though, If you really
want to look into some concepts which you think you have
forgotten, then look at only those which you have done
thoroughly earlier.
-
The point I'm trying to put across is that This is
actually the time to Practice and Practice some more. Go through
all the previous 3 years question papers of
IITJEE(not necessary to go beyond 3
years, as the pattern of JEE changed
dramatically in 2005).
-
Pick up question banks available in any book
store near your house and practice. Only Pick books which
have solutions (and not just the answer keys) at the end.
-
Remember that IIT JEE is not a
test of your speed or hand writing. It only tests your mental
ability and aptitude. So spend lot of time while solving each
of these problems that you attempt from the question banks. Do
not worry even if you are spending 30 minutes on each of these
problems, as you anyway cannot do all the questions from all
the chapters. So try a few, but spend most time on your
previously studied topics only. Look at the solutions only
when you just cannot proceed with the questions.
-
Open your lecture notes from classes
you attended in your college or coaching institute and go
through the good problems that your teachers had solved on the
board. Go through all the formulae and make chapter wise lists
for easy revision
if you tend to get anxious before
the exam . I'd advise that you only read the theory from your
lecture notes only. They will refresh your memory more than
any book.

As for AIEEE or
even the Delhi College of Engineering Entrance test, Students
must understand that the level of difficulty
in these papers is Much lesser
when compared to that in IITJEE.
-
The first thing one must do is
attempt/try solving as many previous year papers as you can get a
hold of. Questions in AIEEE, DCE papers are often
repeated/similar(if not the exact same question, then similar
questions can definitely come). Why lose marks by not knowing
answers to questions which have already appeared in earlier tests?
-
Lots of questions in these papers are
formula based (unlike IITJEE). So make sure you remember
all PCM formulae and have thorough knowledge of how and when
to apply which. These tests are primarily speed tests. They
hardly test your mental ability or conceptual understanding.
They test how quickly you can answer simple, straight forward
questions. So if you are naturally slow in solving problems,
you are in for trouble.
-
Remember that people who top
IITJEE and/or AIEEE tests, may or may not finish the
entire test but they attempt as many questions as time allows
them to and aim At least
getting 80% of the test
right. But knowing this, if you now try to hurry up and try to
attempt all questions (without making sure if the choice you
entered was correct or not), then you might lose marks in
negative marking.
-
So Try to be fast but not at the
cost of Accuracy. Give lots of model tests at home;
see your score for yourself at the end of the test;
observe your mistake areas and work on your weak
sections to see the real improvement.
