About 13000 pharmacy and engineering seats in degree colleges across Ahmedabad may go vacant this year after admission process.

The Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC), after conducting 2 consecutive mock rounds found that out of the total 50,052 seats, only 37,068 students have confirmed their admissions resulting in 12,966 vacant seats. Administrative authorities have proposed to put forward these seats for reshuffling to be held between July 18 and 26, 2012.

Officials from the ACPC revealed that as there is no shortage of professional seats in Ahmedabad, the seats are expected to go vacant either in streams which are not in much demand by the students or in colleges which lack impressive infrastructure.

Officials stated, most students chose to opt for mechanical engineering this year which emerged as a much sought after branch. They also added that nearly 15000 seats are expected to remain vacant after the whole admission process gets over as many students also go for management quota seats outside the state.
