AICTE cancels recognition of 5 engineering colleges
AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) has cancelled the recognition of 5 engineering institutes affiliated to RTU (Rajasthan Technical University) due to malpractices.
The cancellation of affiliation has put the future of more than 1500 BTech and management students at risk. These colleges are Lords Management College, Bansal Engineering College in Jaipur, Lords Engineering College, Lords Hospitality College in Alwar and an engineering institute run by Chachan Educational Society. These institutes were operating without approval since 2010-11.
The CBI had filed petitions against these colleges in cases ranging from cheating to bribery after which the AICTE cancelled their affiliations.
As per a new regulation implemented in February 2011, the council can cancel the recognition of those colleges which are found involved in corruption charges by the CBI. Majority of students enrolled in these colleges are from remote areas. In order to minimize damage, the RTU has commenced shifting these students in other nearby colleges still having vacant seats.
