Delhi boy grabs first rank in AIEEE exam 2012
The AIEEE (All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Examination) Results 2012 were declared on June 9, 2012 in which a government school boy from Delhi has emerged as a topper.
Sandeep Pathry from Government Boys Senior Secondary School, Delhi secured 346 of 360 in his second attempt and grabbed top position. He had secured 89.6% in his class XII exam in 2011 and 84% in Class X exams in 2009.
CBSE chairman has expressed his happiness over a government schoolboy topping a national level exam and added that this is the indication for advent of school based education in India.
The national topper among girls, Mansi Sood from Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj also belongs to Delhi securing sixth rank in the merit list.
The CBSE Board conducts AIEEE Exam for providing admission to various IITs, NITs, IIITs, deemed universities and several institutes offering architecture and engineering courses. Nearly 11, 37,256 candidates applied for BE/BTech paper this year of which 10, 61,854 appeared for the exam. About 83,049 applicants registered for B Arch/B Planning paper of which 71,316 appeared in the exam.
CBSE has instructed that general category, SC/ST, OBC and physically handicapped candidate who have secured 48, 18, 45 and 18 marks respectively can fill in their preferences for online counseling for BE/B Tech and B Arch/ B Planning.
CBSE has also displayed online scanned copies of answer sheets and responses given by the students in the OMR sheet. The initiative has been taken to make the process more transparent. To view AIEEE 2012 Results, candidates can log onto www.cbse.nic.in .
