Fancy package of 82 lakhs does not woo IIT-M students

Last Updated On: 04 Dec 2012

IIT-M (Indian Institute of Technology-Madras) is one of India’s premier institutes and this year some of the best companies visited the campus for the annual placements. In IIT-M, however, an annual package of 82 lakh did not appear to attract a few IIT students. Out of the six fortunate students who were offered the same package, two students have turned down the proposal of Rs 82 Lakhs ($ 1,50,000) offered by Samsung.

Sources from IIT-M reveal that both the computer science B.Tech graduates – Nitin Motiani and Sujeet Gholap took a tough call and finally refused the offer.

Sujeet, who was up for a record six placement offers on the first day of the campus placements on Saturday, December 1, chose Google as the triumphant winner.  Google and Samsung are both trailblazers in their own fields but what finally sealed the deal was his dream of working with Google when he joined the college four years ago.

Although his offer is being kept under wraps, Sujeet is expected to join the Google US office in October, 2013.
