The first round of allotment of seats for IIT-JEE which was going to be held on June 14, 2012 will be delayed by two days and will now be conducted on June 16, 2012. The IITs are yet to release a new schedule for the process. If this delay has an effect on the whole process of seat allotment, the students will be intimated on the same.
Sources from the IIT-JEE office have informed that this delay was caused due to some software issues. An official from the office informed that there were some minor problems with the software which is to be used for the allotment of 17,000 odd students, but the bug had been cleared soon after it was detected and they will put up the list of allotments on the official website by June 16, 2012.
This delay has obviously gotten the students frustrated and they wish that this process of allotment can get over soon, so that they can decide their next course of action.
According to the original schedule, the first allotment was to take place on June 14; the second one on June 25 followed by the last one July 06. This year, around 1,200 students opted out of the online counseling which closed on June 10, 2012. The students could choose as many options as they wished, in the descending order of their preference.
