Majority of board toppers opt for BITS Pilani in 2012

A maximum of 22 Class XII board toppers from different states have taken admission in BITS Pilani (Birla Institute of Technology and Science) this year. Remaining 4 state board toppers joined Goa and Hyderabad campus, 2 each. These students were enrolled under the “Direct Admissions” category which allows board toppers to secure admission to the university directly without appearing for the BITSAT exam.

BITS Pilani inducted its new batch of 2012 on July 31, 2012.

These students originate from different parts of the country, thus ensuring qualitative education. Vice-Chancellor of the institute congratulated the students for outstanding performance in Class XII board exams and online entrance test.

The institute has revamped its curriculum to make it at par with the best in India. The institute is in the process of renovating its infrastructural facilities. It is also in the process of undertaking major expansion plans with regards to number of students to be enrolled to the research and postgraduate program.

BITS is a self financed university. BITS Pilani comprises of 15 education departments focused on studies in Sciences and Engineering. The institute was constituted in 1964. BITS Pilani and its branches have grabbed respectable positions in all media ranking of engineering colleges 2012. 2012 Rankings are:
