The National Institute of Technology-Tiruchi (NIT-T) recently tied up with Brunel University, United Kingdom, to work on a project together. The project titled 'Management Capacity development of Small and Medium enterprises (SMEs)’ aims at developing overall management capacity of SMEs to control existing business efficiently and develop business opportunities abroad.
Although SMEs accounts for 40% of exports, 45% of the industrial output and employ 42 million people, they do not get advantage from international partnerships for including modern management practices as the big organizations get.
The program will focus on training SMEs, and will develop a website that will aid communication between the enterprises and the trainers. The major topics covered during the training would include financial management, business planning, contract and legal systems, supply chain management, human resource management, international marketing and understanding technological developments.
Apart from the two institutes, Uxbridge College, UK, BHEL (Tiruchi) and BHEL Small Industries' Association (BHELSIA) are the other partners of this 30 month long project.
