NIT-K plays host to all night music concert

National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NIT-K)played host to an overnight concert, organized by the Society for promotion of Indian Classical Music and culture amongst youth (Spicmacay).The musical extravaganza was held as a part of the ongoing six day 27th National convention.

The event began at around 9pm on Saturday at the institute's auditorium, after being inaugurated by Pandit Sajan Mishra and Rajan Mishra, and went on till morning 8 am on Sunday.

Rajeshwari, a student of sociology from Bangalore who has been learning music for a few years now, said that the concert taught her a lot about classical music. While most youngsters at the event were enjoying the music, Rajesh, a student of photography from Ooty was enjoying the event through his lens. He said that he was very thrilled to be capturing photos of some great musicians.

The concert enthralled the audience, which consisted of students from across India. Many students said they enjoyed the concert and it has inspired them to listen to more Classical music. The event saw the performance of Pandits Rajan and Sajan Mishra (Hindustani vocal), Ustad Shahid Pervez Khan (sitar), Vidwan U Srinivas (Carnatic mandolin),Vidwan T V Gopalkrishnan (Carnatic vocal) , Pt Venkatesh Kumar (Hindustani vocal), Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar (Dhrupad), perform during the course of the night.
