The Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC) has collaborated with  Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) to offer its programmes at 12 centres in the country.
ATDC-IGNOU Community College is a new venture where the centre offers two-year associate degree and three-year bachelor's degree in Fashion Technology. The institute is an initiative of the Apparel Export Promotion Council, Union Ministry of Textiles, and it has been offering courses ranging from three months to two years.
The new tie-up would enhance the programmes further as the syllabus would be based on both IGNOU and ATDC modules and one would get a twin degree. There is no age bar for the programmes and with the training the institute ensure everybody is wellplaced.
It is said that the apparel industry employs over three million workers and has a growth rate of 10 per cent every year but there is a lot of untapped potential. ATDC plays an important role by upgrading technical skills at the floor level.
