A recent survey conducted by 'My Hiring Club', has indicated a rise in fresher hiring and pay packages in IT and ITeS sector in the first quarter (January to March) of 2012 as compared to other sectors.
As per the report IT and ITeS sector had recruited 24% freshers during the last quarter of financial year 2012 of the total number of recruitments, a whopping 9% more than they had hired a year ago. Campus placements too have grown by 8% in this sector.
Of the 9 industries surveyed, infrastructure sector accounted for about 21% of the fresher recruits, trailed by engineering, manufacturing and automobile sector (18%), retail (16%) and FMCG (14%).
The survey further reported a drop by 2% to 13% in banking and financial services hiring and decline by 4% to 9% in telecom sector. The survey was conducted on about 900 employers and over 1200 institutes.
Bangalore hired a maximum of 24% of freshers followed by Delhi NCR-21%, Chennai-18%, Mumbai-15%, Hyderabad-13% and Kolkata-10%.
