The Results of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2014 (GATE 2014) were declared on Thursday, March 27, 2014. The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur) was the organizing institute of GATE 2014. Candidates can view their Results by logging into the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) website.

GATE is an all-India entrance examination and scholarship test conducted in 8 zones in India by the 7 IITs of Delhi, Bombay, Kanpur, Guwahati, Roorkee, Madras and Kharagpur as well as the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore (IISc Bangalore). The test screens candidates for admission into Masters of Technology (M Tech) courses in the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), IITs, the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) as well as other engineering institutes in India. Few Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) also recognize GATE scores to offer placements.

All the 22 papers were conducted online for the first time during GATE 2014, which took place in 660 centers throughout India. A new paper, Ecology and Evolution, was introduced in GATE 2014. The tests were held in 9 sessions during 3 weekends, between Sunday, February 2 and Sunday, March 2, 2014.

Out of the 10,33,625 candidates who registered for GATE 2014, 8,89,156 candidates or 86.02% actually appeared for it. Around 30.17% of the candidates who registered for the test were women. Again, out of the total registered candidates, 86% male and 85% female candidates appeared for the test.

The highest number of candidates appeared for the Electronics and Communication Engineering paper (2,16,367 candidates), followed by Mechanical Engineering (1,85,578), Computer Science and Information Technology (1,55,190), Electrical Engineering (1,41,799) and Civil Engineering (90,872 candidates). These papers were held in multi-session mode. These papers are expected to follow a suitable normalization method.

For GATE 2014, 1,49,694 (16.84%) candidates will receive the scorecards, depending on the qualified marks criterion.
