Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges' Association (KPPGCA) has announced the entrance exam dates for Karnataka Management Aptitude Test (KMAT), which will be conducted in the month of July 2012. The KMAT entrance exam will be held on Sunday, July 22, 2012.
Karnataka Management Aptitude Test (KMAT) is conducted by Karnataka Postgraduate Colleges’ Association (KPPGCA). Once in a year the KMAT exam is conducted in paper pencil pattern for taking admission into MBA and MCA courses of the institutes in Karnataka.
Karnataka Private Post Graduate College Association a body of over 169 self financing, University and AICTE approved colleges have decided to conduct a common Entrance Test KMAT 2012 for admissions into MBA, PGDBM & MCA program. The Association has been conducting this entrance test for the last 9 years.
Dr.M.Prakash, Secertary, KPPGCA, said that the KMAT 2012 is scheduled on the 22nd of July 2012 in 12 centers across Karnataka and students from all over the country can take up the test. Last year we have over 9500 students who appeared for this test and over 4000 candidates were admitted to various colleges on the basis of KMAT score ranking. This year 8000 seats are available in the management quote for MBA and about 4000 seats in MCA.
Govt of Karnataka on the guidelines given by Supreme Court in 2003 has permitted the test for filling 50% of management quota seats and for the remaining 50% PGCET will be conducted by the government.
KMAT 2012 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates with any bachelor’s degree from any discipline i.e. science, humanities, commerce, computers etc and from any recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all subjects.

KMAT 2012 Paper Pattern
- The KMAT paper pattern differs based on the paper chosen, there are 2 different patterns for the exam one is for MBA paper and other is for MBA and MCA combined paper. The duration of the exam is of 3 hrs. The MBA paper consists of 3 sections namely mathematical skills, language comprehension and basic aptitude. The total number of question is 120 and each section consists of 40 questions.
- The combined paper of MBA and MCA consists of 4 sections namely basic aptitude, language skills, mathematical skills and logical reasoning. The total number of question in this paper is 160, which is divided into 40 questions per section.
