All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi conducts the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) as the national entrance test for admission to MBA and equivalent programs of the various participating institutes. The second MAT exam of 2012 will be conducted in 2 formats, namely paper pencil based and computer based format. The paper pencil based exam is scheduled for May 6 and the computer based exam is to be held on May 12, 2012 onwards respectively. About 32,000 candidates are expected to take the test this year.

The MAT exam will be of 2.5 hours time duration. Paper will be divided into 4 sections; Language Comprehension, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Mathematical Skills, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning and Indian and Global Environment. The scores will be assigned only on the basis of first 4 sections. The difficulty level of the exam is expected to remain easy to moderate. The paper will be of total 800 marks. However, B-schools will not consider the scores of General Knowledge or Global Environment section for short listing process.
The exam will be held at 81 test centers across the country and at 2 international locations in Singapore and Dubai. About 502 business schools across India will accept the scores of MAT May 2012. In February, 2012, only 462 B-schools accepted the MAT scores.
The students must now buckle up to perform well in MAT, May 2012 and secure admission to MBA program in one of the reputed colleges in India.
