An interview with Dr J D Singh Director Jaipuria Institute of Management NoidaQ. Briefly tell us about Jaipuria Institute of Management and its success stories? The House of Jaipuria has an excellent record of efficiently running educational institutions of repute catering to the needs of different cross-section of students. These include senior secondary schools at Kanpur and Lucknow and B-schools at Lucknow, Noida and Jaipur. A Degree College named “Seth Anandram Jaipuria College”, founded by Seth Anandram Jaipuria Trust in 1945 at Calcutta, is now a flourishing and famous centre of excellence in Post-Graduate Education. Its opening ceremony was done by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of independent India. The college celebrated its golden jubilee on 10th September 1995. At present the college has more than 7000 students. The chain of B-Schools under the name of Jaipuria Institute of Management began with the first management institute established in 1995 at Lucknow. This was followed by Jaipuriia Institute of Management at Noida in 2004, at Jaipur in 2006 and Indore to commence its academic programmes in July 2010. All these institutes offer AICTE approved programmes. The institute holds a track record of 100% placement for students with competitive salary packages. Q. What are the courses offered under MBA channel? All the Programmes offered at our Institutes are AICTE approved. Lucknow: Two year full time PGDM, PGDM (Financial Services), PGDM (Retail) and three year part time PGDM for working executives. Noida: Two year full time PGDM, PGDM ( Services), PGDM (Marketing). Jaipur: Two year full time PGDM and PGDM (Financial Services). Q. Tell us about the admission process. Our programmes are targeted at individuals with high potential for success in business and industry. Such individuals must have successfully completed: 1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent (under 10+2+3 system) with at least 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA in any discipline from a University recognized by Association of Indian Universities/AICTE. 2. Candidates appearing in the final year of their bachelor's degree are also eligible, provided they complete all formalities of their examination before 30 June, 2010. 3. Valid Score in the written admission test – CAT/MAT/XAT/ATMA (GMAT for foreign students). At JIM Lucknow, admission to PGDM is open only to CAT qualified students.  Q. What is the fee structure like? The programme fee for two years is Rs. 6 Lakhs at Lucknow and Jaipur campus and Rs. 7 Lakh at Noida campus. The programme fee covers tuition, laptop, reading material, access to and use of the Library and Computer Lab, student activities, professional charges and fee for admission and examinations. Q. Tell us about you faculty and alumni. The industry experienced and sound academics as faculty at Jaipuria Institutes are known for being mentors to the young managers. Faculty with long years of experience in industry and academia and credited with published research in India and abroad are the back bone of our Institutions. What kind of background and profile does your institute look for in new students? Good graduates with a high degree of business aptitude, creativity can do orientation and entrepreneurial traits. Q. Is there any sector of function specific focus while targeting companies for placement? Going by the general management and specialized PGDM courses offered by our Institutes, the recruiters-mix includes sectors such as Financial Services sector including Banking & Insurance companies, Retail and IT sectors, Consultancy & Research Organizations, Health Care and Hospitality, FMCGs and Consumer Durables, B2B firms, etc. Q. Does your institute offer scholarships or loans? In order to attract candidates with high degree of scholastic ability the institutes offer attractive fee waivers to the meritorious candidates on selection. The fee waiver ranges between Rs.1 Lakh to Rs. 50,000 per candidate and is offered to all such candidates who meet the published criteria. In addition, attractive prizes, awards and recognition are offered throughout the programme based on their meritorious performance in each trimester both overall as well as course wise besides the annual prizes and end-of-the programme gold and silver medals. The Best Woman Student of the Noida campus is also honored with a Gold Medal. The institute facilitates students in obtaining education loans from banks to needy students. Q. What are future plans for the institute? Besides continuing to reinforce the delivery of excellence in management education, we are making an endeavour towards becoming a recognized Center of Specialized Management Education in emerging sectors. Our future plans include publishing a truly international journal, setting up of Corporate Consultancy and Training Academy and a Corporate Research Centre and making organization of Global conferences an annual feature.
