Q. Briefly tell us about the institute, who’s concept was to build SDMIMD?
SDM-IMD was established in 1993 by Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Educational Trust to offer qualitative and meaningful management education to young, budding leaders of the country. Over the last decade, hundreds of aspirants have found this as a platform to nurture their talent and become successful managers. Today, SDMIMD has established itself as one of the premium management institute and has become a sought after destination for many. The strength of SDMIMD lies in the emphasis on values and ethics as a part of the toolkit of managers. The focus on quality rather than quantity ensures that all students have plenty of opportunities to involve themselves in various co-curricular and extra curricular activities that help in shaping all round personalities that is so essential to develop good leaders. Q. What are the courses offered? The core offering of the SDM Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) offers a two year residential Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM). The two year programme is designed to cover all the subjects which are relevant to management studies such as Human Resources, Marketing, Finance, Accounting, Communication etc. Total intake is 120 students per batch. Q. Tell us about the admission process at SDM IMD. The student seeking admission in SDMIMD should: 1. Appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) to be conducted by Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) between 28 November to 7th December 2009. 2. Simultaneously apply to SDM Institute for Management Development, Mysore (SDMIMD, Mysore). 3. Based on performance in CAT, previous academic records, applicants will be called for Interview between January - March 2010. 4. Final selection will be made based on the composite scores of performance in CAT, previous academic records, relevant work experience (if any) and performance in Interview. Applicants should have at least a three-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline from any college recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) / Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with minimum 50% aggregate marks in degree examination. Those appearing for their final year Bachelor's degree examination in April / May 2010 may also apply, provided they complete their final degree examination and meet other requirements before the commencement of the course in the first week of June 2010. The candidates are required to appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) to be conducted by Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) all over India.  Q. What is the fee structure like? The fee for the two year programme is Rs. 5.98 lakhs. In addition to that, the hostel fee per year is Rs. 25,000 and the mess charges may come up to around Rs. 2200 per month. Q. Tell us about you faculty and alumni. We have a strong network of alumni across the country and overseas placed in well reputed companies. Our faculty members are well qualified and have academic qualifications from prestigious educational institutions including IITs and IIMs. The faculty consists of academicians as well as people with work experience which enables the institute to give a wholesome and enriching educational environment. Our course is therefore also practical and relevant to industry with the right mix of theory and practice. Q. What kind of background and profile does your institute look for in new students? We have a diverse student mix. We welcome students from different regions, and different backgrounds in terms of their first degrees. This year, we even have a medical doctor, apart from the usual mix of engineers, bio-technologists, and BBAs and B.Coms. Q. Is there any sector of function specific focus while targeting companies for placement? No. Q. Does your institute offer scholarships or loans? A financial aid scheme is in place, wherein, depending on merit and need financial assistance can be provided. Q. Where are the branches of this institute?
