CAT 2009 Registration Deadline extended till October 11
Update: The last date of CAT 2009 Scratch Voucher availability, Online Registration and Rescheduling has been extended until October 11 to give aspirants more time to register for the Nation's premier Management Entrance exam.

Indian Institutes of Management in association with Prometric - which is conducting the Common Admission Test this year - CAT 2009, have made the the decision in view of the various bank holidays during September. Since September 9 when registrations opened, 2,00, 000 candidates are said to have registered for the first Computer based version of the CAT. CAT 2009 Candidates will be able to Edit their Personal and Application Data starting evening of 18th September 2009. From the evening of 18 September 2009, candidates can log on to IIM Prometric website to
o Application data (e.g. educational information) o Interview location.

Stay tuned to Minglebox for more. Here are some FAQs answered to clear the confusion related to CAT 2009's Online Registration Process glitches. I think I made some mistakes while entering my details. Can I correct them? Prometric will provide an ‘EDIT’ button in the online registration for CAT 2009. All candidates (including the ones who have already registered) will then be able to edit their information in the online registration form. During the CAT Online registration process, candidates receive two emails from Prometric. The first arrives when they create a profile (stating personal information) and the other email contains the admit card. After the edit option is introduced ten days from now, you will be able to change/update information in your form (academic scores, degree details etc.,) following which you will receive an updated personal profile email. In case you edit information such as name, address and such, you will receive a new admit card. This will be the admit card that you must carry to your CAT 2009 exam slot. After I entered my information wrongly, I panicked and bought another CAT voucher to register myself correctly. Will I get a refund now? I now have two registrations. Which one should I correct for final usage and which one should I ask refund for? All the candidates who registered again because they entered wrong information will be reimbursed. For the reimbursement, Candidates will have to go to the 'Contact us' page on the CAT website and call the helpline at the toll-free number:1800 103 9293. You can also contact Prometric using the form at the Prometric IIM- CAT Contact Us page and explain your case. Personnel from candidate care services will then contact you about the refund process. Candidates who have registered twice can decide which registration to cancel. The canceled registration's time slot will be made available for other candidates once canceled. My State of Residence appears wrong in the email I received. Can I correct this? All CAT candidates will be able to edit the information that has already been entered once the ‘edit’ button is introduced. Therefore, all problems of misspelled names and wrong states can be taken care of once the Edit feature is available. There is no option for a middle name in the registration form. What does a candidate with a middle name do in such a scenario? The middle name can be entered along with your first name, in the area given for first name, with a space in between both the names. For example, if your name is ‘Meena Kumari Shah’ then you must enter your name as: First Name: Meena Kumari Last Name: Shah Candidates who have names such as ‘PK Ravindranath’ can either enter the name as follows: 'PK as their first name and Ravindranath as their last name' or they can expand the ‘P’ and ‘K’ and enter it as their first name. CAT 2009 will be held across the following 32 cities in India in primarily engineering and management institutes. The cities are Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Delhi, Durgapur, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Navi Mumbai, Noida, Patna, Pune, Ranchi, Shillong, Siliguri and Varanasi. These problems will soon be solved as Prometric will provide an EDIT button for candidates to change/update information before registration closes. Careful while filling out your details during the CAT 2009 Online Registration Process. In your haste to submit the application, You might land up making some grave mistakes. The problem is with the " Educational Information" Section in Prometric's Online CAT 2009 Registration module. The text that follows this category is "Select ALL that apply" which means you will have to begin by clicking SSC or equivalent, Then Click HSC or Equivalent after which you will have to click the Bachelor's Degree Level option relevant to you. If you are worried now about how exactly to do this, Take a look at the Right way to Select Your Educational Qualifications in the image below:  The glaring problem in this process is that if by chance candidates overlook the 'Select All that Apply' and do not click the 10th and 12th Standard level option in the Educational Information List, The Prometric system does not throw up any errors reminding you about the same. So if you miss these crucial information fields, the fields to enter your 10th and 12th standard marks do not show up on your computer screen and the registration process continues as though nothing is amiss. But the IIMs require your HSC and SSC scores as they will be used to shortlist candidates after CAT 2009. Whats worse is you may not even realize your error, As you will even receive your admit card even though your vital information records are incomplete. So, Please remember to be cautious and read every single word on your computer screen as you register. Do NOT assume that you only have to enter your most recent educational qualification in the Educational Information section. If you have made this mistake, Then do not register again as The system will soon allow applicants to go back and edit/enter the information again. Do not miss the ‘Select all that apply’ and other such instruction details during your registration process. You must start by clicking the SSC level, HSC level options and then move onto clicking the correct Bachelors Degree Level option. If you have not filled the CAT online form yet, Please remember to read your computer screen carefully before submitting the form.
