With only 77 days left for CAT 2012, the countdown for MBA aspirants has started. The dates for CAT 2012 have been announced officially by the CAT (Common Admission Test) committee. This year CAT exam will be conducted by IIM- Kozhikode (Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode) on behalf of remaining 12 IIMs over a window period of 27 days beginning from October 11, 2012 and ending on November 6, 2012.
As per the exam notification, this year also CAT will be an online test comprising of 2 sections of 1 hour and 10 minutes duration each. Each section will consist of 30 questions including data interpretation, quantitative ability, logical reasoning and verbal ability.
Candidates will be briefed a 15 minute tutorial about the examination scheme before the exam commences. The total time duration including the tutorial will be 2 hours 35 minutes. No significant changes have been made to CAT this year.
Candidates having bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA can apply for CAT 2012. For reserved category students the eligibility criteria is 45%.
Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting Results can also apply. If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if he/she submits a certificate latest by June 30, 2013 from the Principal/Registrar of his/her College/Institute (issued on or before June 30, 2013) stating that the candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate.
Sale of prospectus and application form will begin from July 30, 2012 and will go on till September 17, 2012. Candidates can apply between July 30, 2012 and September 19, 2012. The exam dates will fall between October 11, 2012 and November 6, 2012. The Results will be declared on January 9, 2013. Candidates can register for CAT 2012 by logging onto www.catiim.in website.
Besides IIMs, over 130 business schools across India will be accepting CAT scores this year.
