Overview:

The 2011 Summer Internship placement process held at IIM Raipur attracted flood of offers from the corporate world. 20 students got offers from the Chhattisgarh Government. Over 40 companies participated in the summer placement process.  The first batch of IIM Raipur consisting of 69 students bagged a total of 100 offers at the placement.The batch has got unique combination of fresh graduates and graduates with previous work experience. Most of the students are from engineering background.

Functional Division

Automobiles

Around 12% of students chose to work as an intern at Ashok Leyland Hero Honda, Maruti Suzuki, TATA Motors and Daimler.

Finance and Banking

Finance and Banking was the favorite sector for the 2011 MBA batch as 23% of students preferred to pursue their internship at companies such as YES Bank, Indcap Advisors,  India Infoline, Punjab National Bank, HSBC, ICICI, CRISIL, SIDBI, Standard Chartered and  NABARD.

Oil & Gas

Oil & Gas sector acquired 17% of students as interns at BPCL and HPCL.

Consultancy

The consultancy sector was able to attract 9% of student to work as an intern at KPMG, I-Maritime Consultancy and Ernst &Young.

Apart from above sectors, IT & Telecommunication, Rural and Urban Development, Pharma, Power, PDS, Agri & Allied Products, Health, Housing and Tourism too found small percentage of students to work as an intern in their company.

Summer placement for first batch of IIM Raipur was a major success due to enormous support received from the corporate world and the government of Chattisgarh.
