IIM-A students seeking entry to public domain through Kalam's course Around 117 management students at IIM-A have applied for GRIIT (Globalizing resurgent India through innovative transformation) course – offered by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, former president of India and Anil Gupta, IIM-A faculty. The course aims at advising public policy with the help of a range of project proposals. After the completion of lectures, students need to present project proposals for developing scenarios depending on various options for particular policy and institutional reforms. The course also provides an opportunity to students to work with the former President. Anil Gupta along with Dr. Kalam will listen and shortlist the best presentations on November 10, 2012. Previously, IIM-A had promoted interaction of students with politicians which encouraged many students to take up politics as a career or pursue internship with political parties. However, there has been a decline in this trend in past few years. GRIIT is the only public policy course that has attracted large number of participants. The course was launched by Anil Gupta in 2008 with 70 participants. Another elective course in public policy that enrolled 86 students in 2011, witnessed only 10 participants this year.
