So far IIM-Ranchi was known for its vigorous projects in rural areas and exclusive inner development course, the institute is now focusing on holistic development of students. With the institute making yoga compulsory, students can be seen practicing Yoga mudras and pranayam in the Aryabhatta hall on the roof top of IIM-Ranchi.

Sources from the B-school expressed that the move aims at grooming students in such a way that they can face eventualities easily. The yoga classes held two times a week has gained popularity among students.

IIM-Ranchi’s focus towards inner development and approach to things differentiates it from other IIMs. Apart from Yoga classes, the institute also offers courses on inner development, Indian culture and social aspects of business.

In 2011, the institute had called Ramnath Narayanswamy from Bangalore to take the inner development classes. This year it is planning to call Sudipta Sen Gupta from FMS to take the course.

The inner development course deals with the need to describe from intuition instead of depending on our intellect and the program on social aspects of business reveals social problems to the students for which they are supposed suggest possible solutions during the lengthy practical projects.

The institute aims at developing eastern values into lives and spread it around the world so that a student grows as a successful manager as well as a cooperative individual.
