Management Consulting and Investment Banking Sector Dominate IIM Indore 2011 Final Placements

The final placement of IIM Indore 2011 was dominated mostly by the players of Management Consulting and Investment Banking Sector.


IIM Indore concluded the final placements for 2009-2011 PGDM Batch in a span of 5 days. The 2009-2011 PGDM Batch consists of 238 students. 92 companies participated in the placement process. Students were extended offers from 16 diverse sectors such as Operation, IT, Marketing and Finance etc. 27% of these companies participated in the IIM Indore placements for the first time.

Industry Players and Functional Break Up:

IIM Indore 2009-2011 PGDM Batch was extended equally excellent opportunities from Marketing, Finance and Consulting sectors.
28% of the students opted for the finance sector, which is essentially the most dominating sector in IIM Indore placements year after year. The leading companies in the placement process were JP Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, HSBC-GR, Standard Chartered, and Nomura.

Consulting sector extended offers to 23% of the PGDM batch. 2011 placements witnessed several strategic and niche consulting roles being extended to the candidates inclusive of Real Estate Consulting, Health Care Consulting and Retail Consulting. Some of the players from the consulting sector were Wipro Consulting Services, Cognizant Business Consulting, Aon Hewitt, Price WaterHouse Coopers, Deloitte, Ernst & Young and Boston Consulting Group.
22% of the 2009-2011 PGDM Batch chose profiles in the Sales and Marketing Sector. In the year 2011, various offers were extended to the students from Manufacturing, Textile, Pharmaceutical, Telecom and Automobile sector. Some of the FMCG companies that extended multiple offers to the students were Britannia, Dabur, Reckitt Benckiser, Marico, ITC, Pepsi and Hindustan Unilever.
The Operations sector extended a wide array of profiles to 10% students from the PGDM batch from areas such as logistics, infrastructure development and management as well as supply chain management. The companies that participated in the placement process from operations sector were Gati, Reliance Power, Bharti Realty, Tata Steel, Cummins, L&T and Procter & Gamble.
Almost 10% of the students chose Corporate Strategy and General Management roles. Some of the companies that participated in placement process were Larsen & Toubro, Manipal Group, Bharti Group, Anil Dhirubai Ambani Group, Mahindra & Mahindra and RIL.
Nearly 7% students opted for sectors such as Information technology and Human Resources. Some of the major IT recruiters were Wipro, HCL Technologies, Infosys, Cognizant and HP.

Placement Comparison 2011 vs. 2010:

The average package in 2011 is Rs. 14.06 lakh p.a, exhibiting an increase of 27% in comparison to 2010. The Consulting sector in 2011 has also tried to match up to the finance sector in comparison to only finance sector dominating the 2010 final placements by extending offers to 45% students.

The quality of students, faculty as well as a dedicated alumni base contributed to the successful final placements of 2009-2011 PGDM Batch of IIM Indore.
