Only 60,000 candidates have registered for second CMAT (Common Management Admission Test) to be held from September 27 to October 1, 2012.

The CMAT registrations closed on September 7, 2012. Nearly 70,000 candidates had applied for the first CMAT held in February this year of which 60,000 appeared for the test. This is the first CMAT for 2012-13 academic year and the second test will be held in February 2013.

Sources from AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) revealed that, lesser number of candidates may have registered because the test will be held twice in an academic year.

Earlier the last date to register was September 2, 2012 which was then extended to September 7, 2012. It is not mandatory for an applicant to take both the tests. In case a student appears for both the test, the better score will be considered.

CMAT will be a computer-base test. Applicants can opt for the test in any of the 2 slots on a given day. The pattern will remain same. The 3-hour exam will be divided into 4 sections of 100 marks each.
