The new single common entrance medical examination –NEET (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test) has finally been postponed to 2013. However, with quite a few states now supporting the exam, NEET is all set to make a debut next year.
NEET is expected to be very different from the AIPMT. The coaching centers preparing students for the All India Pre-Medical/Dental Test (AIPMT) are also facing a tough time to prepare students for NEET. Lets us have a look at the differences between AIPMT and NEET –
One of the major differences between the two exams is the number of papers. In AIPMT, students appear for the prelims first. After clearing the prelims the students proceed for the mains on the basis of which admissions were done. However, NEET has only one paper. The admissions will take place directly after clearing one exam.
Secondly, preparing for NEET is going to be very different from AIPMT since the exact paper pattern is unknown as it is being conducted for the first time. As a result, there are no preparation tips available for NEET unlike AIPMT.
Thirdly, one of the major differences between these two exams is allocation of seats. NEET will be held for 100% seats for all medical colleges across the country. It is categorized into 2 merit lists. The major portion (85%) is for state quota and the minor portion (15%) is for national quota.
With these evident differences, the preparation for the common entrance medical exam (NEET) next year is a much more herculean task.
