Gujarat gets more medical and dental seats

Gujarat is all set to get additional seats for medical and dental courses this year, after receiving approvals for 3 new medical colleges and 1 dental college. More seats have been added to the existing 2 medical colleges which will make the total number medical seats to 550 available for admissions this year.

The new medical colleges which have received approvals are located in Patan, Valsad and Gandhinagar. Bhavnagar and Rajkot medical colleges have received approvals to add 50 more seats in each.

The Dental Council of India (DCI) has approved the opening of a new 100 seat dental college at Siddhupur.

Officials from the Admission committee for professional medical education courses (ACPMEC) revealed that the merit lists for ayurveda, paramedical, dental, medical, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and homeopathy will be released soon, and the admission process will begin on July 17, 2012.

Engineering diploma admissions extended till July 5, 2012

Following the complaints of almost 3,000 SSC students who were facing difficulty in registering for diploma engineering seats, the registration dates have been extended by 3 days. The candidates who failed to apply for post-SSC diploma admissions can now buy and fill application forms on July 3, 4 and 5, 2012.

Students can purchase forms from Punjab National Bank branches. They will be given a booklet and PIN number by the bank, and will have to contact any of the 15 polytechnic colleges to complete the application process.

There are about 54,000 seats for diploma engineering courses, and almost 1.10 lakh students have registered so far.
