Medical Council of India (MCI) has devised a new syllabus for the students wanting to take the Common Entrance Test for medical colleges.
The council uploaded the new syllabus for physics, biology and chemistry for the higher secondary students on its website for public feedback.
The new syllabus is prepared by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and will remain on the MCI website till August 11.
According to MCI, the new syllabus has been developed keeping in mind the recommendations of National Curriculum Framework, 2005.
The Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the MCI have decided to make CET mandatory for admission to undergraduate medical education at all institutes - government and private medical colleges and deemed universities – from next year.
Currently, there are about 17 entrance tests for admission to MBBS courses.
In 2012, the CET will determine admissions to 335 medical colleges - 185 private and 150 governments. About 8-10 lakh students are expected to take the first Medical Common Entrance Test in May next year.
