Agriculture is the career which plays two roles that of a good paymaster and more importantly it also plays the role of a patriot by contributing to the development of the nation’s agricultural resources solving the country’s food problems.

If we give the dictionary definition of agriculture it says Agriculture is the science, art, and business of cultivating soil, producing crops, and raising livestock; farming, and an agriculturist is he who study’s this science or art.  An agriculturist is he who seeks to improve the science of farming, and poultry and live stock keeping.

They are also called Soil and Plant Scientists, their duty is to conduct research for improvement in breeding production yield and management of crops, agricultural plants and also study about pests, conduct research in breeding, physiology, production, yield, and management of crops and agricultural plants or trees, shrubs, and nursery stock, their growth in soils, and control of pests, or study the chemical, physical, biological, and mineralogical composition of soils.

Agriculturists are also involved in increasing milk and meat production and increasing the production of poultry goods eggs and chicken meat. Other duties involve doing everything that a  farmer does watering the fields, making arrangement s for proper irrigation , keeping an eye on soil conditions, sowing seeds in time, ploughing the field themselves or supervising all the work.

Conduct research and keep a record of the data available for future use. Scope is vast in the job market ---they are required by farms, and live stock raisers and poultry keepers to improve production and see to the health issues of these animals and birds. They are employed by private as well as government sectors.

The work of agriculturist is very strenuous because he has to monitor, supervise and be actively involved in the working at the fields. He does the work of a traditional farmer as well as that of a scientifically trained one who is supposed to guide the farmers.
