IIT Madras – Department of Management Studies Summer Placements concluded on a cheerful note

Overview

The summer placement process for the 2010-2012 batch of Department of Management Studies (DoMs), IIT Madras has concluded successfully. Apart from the regular recruiters the institute also invited new entrants. Students were successful in grabbing challenging roles with handsome salary packages.

A total of 33 recruiters visited the campus to offer summer internship placements to 70 students. Profiles offered to the students covered all domains giving them an opportunity to pursue internship in the area of their interest. Some of the recruiters visiting the campus include Hewlett Packard, Mindtree, Citibank, Idea, D.Shaw, L & T, CCD, Wipro, Religare, AnandRathi, NCDEX, Avalon Consulting, IFMR Trust etc.

Sector wise breakup:

 

Marketing:

In marketing sector, offers were made for profiles such as business development, new product development, market research and competitive analysis. Highest numbers of students were hired by the companies representing marketing sector with 29% offers. The companies included BPCL, CCD, Henkel, KU education, Idea, InfoSTEP, L&T, Reckitt Benkiser, Servion, Wipro, Fidelity, GFK Mode.

Finance:

Profiles in Finance included a wide range such as Financial Markets, Finance and Tax and investment banking. Finance sector grabbed 18% of the total students. The recruiters included AnandRathi, D.Shaw, L&T, NCDEX, Nomural Holdings, Religare, Sundaram Finance.

Operations:

Companies such as Brakes India, Citibank, Idea, TVS Lucas chose 13% of the students for Operations role. Citibank offered the highest stipend of Rs. 1 lakh.

Others:

HP offered placements to 17% of the students.  Companies such as Mindtree, NeGP, SCOPE offered systems and IT roles to 10% students. Consulting companies included Avalon Consulting, IMaCS and Medall hired 9% of the students. IFMR Trust, L&T and Medall offered HR profiles to 4% of the students.

The Department of Management Studies in IIT Madras renewed its association with its regular recruiters and at the same time invited new recruiters to the campus which is a good sign of long lasting corporate relations of the institute.
