With History and English department of Panjab University rolling back the number of seats due to lack of resources and adequate teaching staff, admissions to postgraduate courses is expected to get tougher this academic year.

The BoC (Board of Control) at the departments of History and English have decided to decrease the number of seats from 68 to 50 for History and 149 to 100 for English for the current academic year.

Sources from the university revealed that the vice-chanceloor had asked them to increase the number of seats a few years back. Though there was no improvement in the infrastructure nor the existing teaching staff was increased to accommodate the hiked seats. Thus management decided to roll back the seats to old number.

Other departments also want to decrease the intake citing the same reasons.
