Students prefer GMAT over GRE for admission to B-schools

For candidates aspiring to pursue MBA Abroad, GMAT and GRE are two popular exams. Most of the foreign universities and colleges accept the scores of these 2 tests for providing admission to the students worldwide. As per a recent survey done by Kaplan Test Prep, merely 16% students opt for GRE test while majority of them choose GMAT test.

The primary reason behind this huge gap is that many MBA applicants think that GRE scores are not accepted by most of the foreign B-schools as students interested in pursuing graduate program from a foreign university take up GRE test. Apart from this, GMAT is particularly devised to access the skills of candidates for enrollment to MBA programs. About 60% MBA applicants preferred GMAT because it is designed to evaluate the candidates especially for B-schools. Thus they fear opting for GRE test.

However, Director of graduate programs of Kalpan Test Prep disagreed with this point and expressed that to the surprise of the students, most of the management schools they apply to, accept GRE scores, besides GMAT. However, taking GMAT is advisable only if you are aspiring for business schools and not graduate programs offered by the foreign universities.

As per another survey, candidates taking GMAT are generally preferred over GRE test takers by the foreign universities for admission to business schools.
