The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test 2014 (UPTET 2014) is expected to be held on Saturday, February 22 and Sunday, February 23, 2014, as per the information released by the UP government. Online applications, which are slated to start after Tuesday, December 10, 2013, are expected to continue till Monday, January 6, 2014.
TET is held annually to shortlist eligible candidates to be recruited as teachers in government-run primary and upper primary schools as well as private schools in UP. The information on examination centers is awaited. Admit cards may be downloaded from Thursday, February 6, 2014 onwards.
After the test concludes, students can compare the answer keys online for reference.
Candidates aspiring to teach in schools at primary level need to solve a question paper of 150 marks. Questions will be derived from the topics of Language Expression (60 questions with one mark each) as well as Hindi Grammar, Comprehension and Child Nutrition each containing 30 questions of one mark per question. Language Expression has replaced Essays in the paper.
The sections and question pattern will be the same for gaining appointment in junior schools.
Candidates under the General category are required to score 60% marks and candidates under other categories need to score 55% to qualify in the TET examination.
Candidates need to have graduation as well as post graduation degree together with a Bachelor of Education (B Ed) degree to be eligible.
