Applications are invited by National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal for admission to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D), Master of Science (M.Sc) and Master of Technology (M.Tech) programs in various disciplines for the commencing session 2012-13.

Eligibility Criteria for NITK, Surathkal:

• The general candidates should have passed the prescribed qualifying examination with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 6.5 in the 0-10 scale grading system, or not less than 60% marks in the aggregate.
• The SC/ST candidates should have passed the prescribed qualifying examination with CGPA of 6.0 or 55% marks in the aggregate.
• Candidates seeking admission to the M.Sc courses should have passed a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry/Physics with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 6.5 in the 0-10 scale grading system, or not less than 60% marks in the aggregate. There is a 5% relaxation of marks for the SC/ST candidates.

• The duly filled in application form should be sent to the Dy. Registrar (Academic) NITK, along with a demand draft of Rs. 500/- for general candidates and Rs. 150/- for SC/ST candidates drawn in favor of ‘the Director, National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal, Srinivasnagar’, payable at State Bank of India, Surathkal/Canara Bank NITK Campus Branch Surathkal by June 18, 2012 at the latest.

Selection Procedure for NITK, Surathkal:

• The selection of the candidates to the M.Sc programs will be based on their academic performance in the qualifying degree program, written aptitude test conducted by the respective departments.
• The selection of the candidates to the M.Tech programs will be based on their academic performance in qualifying examination or/and written aptitude test or/and interview etc as decided by the DPGC of the concerned department offering the program.
• The selection of the candidates to the Ph.D programs will be based on their academic performance in the qualifying examinations, written aptitude test, presentation on a research topic and interview as specified by the concerned departments.
