Yale goes to Lion city
Joining the set of the famed universities like Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of Glasgow, Stanford research and University college of London and Manchester, that have established campuses away from their origin cities in Singapore; is Yale University. Yale is buckled up to land in the lion city and will soon be enrolling batches into its brand new classrooms in Singapore, which is rapidly becoming a very desired educational destination .
The new batch of Yale-NUS College takes off by august 2013, while the president has already presided over the college’s office on the 1st of July this year. As per his say- Yale-NUS is going to be a nurturer of emerging premiers and that the quality of education ,that shall be offered, shall be far from prevailing classroom norms and contain a much clearer culture. Before the new campus commences in 2015 the college shall be located at the university town of NUS.
The Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong, at the ground inaugural ceremony, mentioned that, the government is taking great measures to expand the state university sector and seeks to provide more choices to the students by conjuring innovative ideas for the education sector.
While UK and USA are experiencing an acute drop in the foreign student enrolment, Singapore is receiving a steady escalation of 20% every year. It is acknowledged that out of the 70,000 international students enrolling in Singapore, the Indian ratio stands at a delightful 3000 students. The reasons stated for India’s new found admiration for the country are namely, its nearness to India, effortless scholarship access and its likelihood of international revelation.
However, Singapore is a costly city to live in and has secured the 8th position in the list of “most expensive cities in the world”. The fact however does not make it a hindrance for the country because the overall costs are comparatively lower than that of other hotspots like US and UK.
