Higher education in Canada is governed by many bodies which help in making Canada’s higher education system is one of the reputed in the world. World over, most schools and colleges need to have accreditation to ensure they are recognized in the world order or global rankings.
Canadian school and colleges are under provincial or territorial governments that have responsibility for postsecondary education. Legal authority to grant degrees is conveyed upon individual public or private postsecondary institutions by the provincial and territorial legislatures. Institutions authorized to grant degrees are identified as "recognized" institutions. There is no accreditation of whole education institutions in Canada, but individual university or college programs of study are accredited by professional bodies.
The Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada
The Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) is an organisation that groups Canada's universities. Formed in 1911, it represents 92 public and private not-for-profit Canadian Universities and University Colleges in Canada. It provides member services in public policy and advocacy, communications, research and information-sharing, and Scholarships and international programs. Membership in AUCC along with a provincial charter to grant degrees is sometimes used as de facto accreditation in Canada. The association produces a number of publications, such as University Affairs magazine, Trends in Higher Education, Momentum (university research), UniWorld magazine, the Directory of Canadian Universities, and the University Telephone Directory.

The Association to Advanced Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International was established in the year 1916 and started its accreditation function in 1919. This accreditation body in the US provides a thorough review process for evaluating quality business management schools worldwide. AACSB international accreditation not only ensures that the intuitions have achieved quality but have a system in place for constant progress of their educational offerings. In 2003, AACSB members approved a set of revised standards pertinent to all business programs worldwide and which promote excellence in management education globally.

Education - The European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) is an important international accreditation body for business schools in UK and other several countries in Europe. The primary objective of EQUIS is to elevate the standard of management education in European countries. Institutions with EQUIS accreditation is an indication of the quality its staff, programs, research and students. This accreditation agency not only assesses degree programs but also sub-units and all the activities of the institution, including provision for executive education, e-learning units and community outreach.
