he DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) has commenced its new office in Bangalore to focus on the scientific and educational exchanges between Germany and India. This is the 5th office of DAAD in India situated within the new campus of Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Residency road based Cash Pharmacy Building.
As per the sources from DAAD regional office South Asia, the research institutes and universities of Germany provide opportunities specifically to Indian postgraduate students. Establishing its office in Bangalore will moreover help DAAD to increase awareness on opportunities to study abroad in Germany and to strengthen collaboration between the scientific and educational institutes in Kerala, Germany and Karnataka.
The deputy general of Germany expressed that the government of Germany accounts for approximately all educational costs for foreign and German students in a similar way. Either there is no or very minimal tution fees and large number of Scholarships available.
As per the recent trends, there has been a rise of 81% in number of Scholarships for students of India in last 2 years in Germany. This has impacted the number of enrollments of new Indian students in German universities to climb up by 43% since 2008.
