Australia continues to be the top destination for higher studies among Indian students

The number of Indian students aspiring for Australian universities for higher studies declined following the racial attacks of 2010.The crisis strained relationships between India and Australia and affected the Australian education system to a great extent. The number of students coming to Australia for higher studies dwindled from 1, 20,000 in 2009 to 37,000 in the first quarter of this year 2012.

However, Indian students’ demand for the Australian education services is expected to grow. Sources from the Australia India Institute stated that, higher education in Australia gives India a huge opportunity to grow. It is estimated that at least 500 to 1000 new universities are needed in the next 10 years to meet the demand of students. A report from Beyond the Lost Decade revealed that Australia is ranked 8th out of 38 countries in terms of preference for higher studies.

Australian universities are now taking extra steps to ensure the safety of the international students studying in Australia. Out of the many universities that are trying to improve their security system for the foreign students, University of Technology, Sydney has taken many precautions for the security of its international students. It has increased it security for students to move safely between campus and residences. Security services are also provided in hostels at all times.
